Son Little is Aaron Livingston, a singer, instrumentalist, and songwriter who divides his time between his own music and collaborations. Blending elements of acoustic blues, vintage soul, and conscious hip hop into a mixture that is expressive yet deeply personal, Son Little’s latest album, 2022’s Like Neptune, trades in the existential dread permeating previous work for unbridled joy and self-acceptance, establishing Livingston as the polyglot translator and rightful torchbearer of the celebrated musical tradition known as rhythm and blues. Livingston has collaborated with highly respected artists such as the Roots and the producer and DJ RJD2. More recently, he produced legendary gospel singer Mavis Staples’s four-song EP Your Good Fortune and wrote two of the songs on the record.
