Angela goes to France to care for a dying aunt, and after being rescued when her ship is torpedoed by a German U-Boat, arrives to find her aunt dead, and the chateau a field hospital. Angela remains there, and sends secret messages to the Allies when the Germans (including Karl) occupy the town. Karl catches Angela sending messages, but when his Colonel orders her to be shot, Karl denounces the Kaiser and joins Angela to face the firing squad.
